Introduction GPS(GlobalPositioningSystem)iswidelyusedfordeterminingthepositionandelevationofalocation.However,itiswellknownthatGPSelevationisnotalwaysaccurate.Manyfactors,suchasatmosphericconditionsandsignalattenuation,canaffectthecalculationofGPSelevation.Thismakesitchallengingtoobtainaccurateelevationdata,particularlyinareaswithsteepterrainorsignificantchangesinelevation. Toovercomethesechallenges,researchershavebeenexploringtheuseofsurfacemodelsinGPSelevationfitting.Surfacemodelsaremathematicalrepresentationsoftheelevationofanarea,usuallybasedonagridofelevationvalues.Theyofferamoreaccurateandreliablewayofdeterminingelevationbyincorporatingdatafromsurroundingareas.
