Abstract：Thepapergivesanoverviewofarecentlystartedresearchprojectaddressingthequestion：Cancontextbe
exploitedtoaddvaluetoIT-services?Beyondtoday’Sway—findingservicesbasedonGPSandmaps，we

believethereisanewclassofcontext—awarepervasiveservicesmakinggooduseofabroadrangeofcontext
information(e．g．identity，timeofday，temperature，historyaswellasrelativelocationoffriendsand
belongings)．LastbutnotleastwebelieveonecanfindwaysofaddingvaluetoIT-servicesbyusing
disembodiedconversationalagentsbasedonvoice，soundsandvisualsignalsintegratedintotheenvironment，
insteadofbeingguidedbyexplicitdirectionsshownonadisplay．Theprojectaimsatgivingbothnew
fundamentalinsightaboutthetheorybehindIT—services，theirarchitectureanduserinterfacesandatbuildinga

numberofprototypesdemonstratinginnovativecontext-awarepervasiveIT—services．
