Introduction: Thegastrointestinaltractharborsacomplexanddynamicmicrobialcommunitythatplaysacrucialroleinmaintainingguthomeostasisandimmunefunction.Growingevidencesuggeststhatdysbiosis,characterizedbyanimbalanceinthegutmicrobiota,isassociatedwithvariousinflammatoryboweldiseases,includingCrohn'sdiseaseandulcerativecolitis.Akkermansiamuciniphila,aprominentmemberofthegutmicrobiota,hasemergedasapotentialtherapeutictargetforthetreatmentofgut-relateddisordersduetoitsuniqueproperties.
