RheologicalCharacteristicsofOil-coalSlurries Therheologicalbehaviorofoil-coalslurriesiscomplexandhighlydependentonvariousfactors.Theviscosityoftheslurryisanimportantparameter,asitaffectsthepumpingandflowratesoftheslurry.High-viscosityslurriesrequirehigherpumpingpressuresandaremoredifficulttotransport,whilelow-viscosityslurrieshaveahigherchanceofsettling.Theviscoelasticpropertiesoftheseslurriesalsoplayanimportantroleinflowbehavior,deformation,andstability.Theyieldstress,elasticmodulus,andshearratesensitivityoftheslurriescanvarywidely,dependingonparticlesize,shape,concentration,andsurfaceproperties. Shear-thinningandshear-thickeningbehaviorhavealsobeenobservedinoil-coalslurries,whichmeanstheirviscositydecreasesorincreaseswithshearrate.Thisbehaviorisattributedtotheformationofparticleclustersorchains,andtheirbreakdownundershearstress.Theseclusterscanalsoleadtowallslipandextrudateswellandcanaffecttheoverallconsistencyoftheslurry.Thepresenceofvolatileorganiccompoundsandchemicaladditivescanalsoaffecttheflowbehaviorbyalteringtheinteractionsbetweentheparticles.
