Introduction: Mosobamboo(Phyllostachysedulis)isafast-growingandeconomicallyimportantspeciesinChina.JiananMosoBambooForestisoneofthelargestandoldestbambooforestsinsouthernSichuan.Soilrespiration,thecombinedeffluxofcarbondioxideproducedbybothplantrootsandsoilmicroorganisms,playsasignificantroleinthecarboncyclingofforestecosystems.Changesinthroughfallandnitrogenavailabilitycanaltersoilrespirationrates,affectingthecarbonbalanceandecosystemfunctioning. Methods: ThestudywasconductedinJiananMosoBambooForest,wherethreeexperimentalplotswereestablished:controlplot,reducedthroughfallplot,andnitrogenadditionplot.Soilrespirationwasmeasuredusingtheclosedchambermethod,andsoilsampleswerecollectedforanalysisofcarbonandnitrogencontent.Statisticalanalyses,includinganalysisofvariance(ANOVA)andcorrelationanalysis,wereperformedtoevaluatetheeffectsofreducedthroughfallandnitrogenadditiononsoilrespiration. Results: OurresultsshowedthatreducedthroughfallsignificantlydecreasedsoilrespirationratesintheMosobambooforest.Thereductioninthroughfallledtoadecreaseinmoistureavailability,limitingsoilmicrobialactivityandsubsequentlyreducingsoilrespiration.Nitrogenaddition,ontheotherhand,hadapositiveeffectonsoilrespiration.Theadditionofnitrogenprovidedanadditionalnutrientsourceforthemicrobialcommunity,stimulatingmicrobialactivityandenhancingsoilrespirationrates.Additionally,wefoundapositivecorrelat
