Introduction Reflectivethinkinghasbecomeanessentialaspectofmanyacademicfields,includingeducation.Reflectivethinkingpromotescriticalself-reflectionanddecision-makingandencourageslearnerstobecomeself-directed,activeparticipantsintheirlearning.InthecontextofEnglishlanguageteaching,reflectivethinkingcanbeusedtopromoteautonomouslearning. UniversityEnglishTeachinginChina English,asasecondlanguage,isanessentialcomponentofhighereducationinChina.MostuniversitiesrequirestudentstocompleteEnglishasacompulsorycourse.Thesecoursesaimtoimprovestudents'languageproficiency,boosttheircommunicationskillsandpreparethemfortheglobaljobmarket. Despitetheextensivetrainingprograms,thelevelofEnglishproficiencyamongChineseuniversitystudentsisstillrelativelylowduetoseveralreasons.Thesereasonsincludealackofexposuretothelanguage,insufficientclassroominteraction,traditionalteacher-centeredteachingmethods,androtelearning.WiththeincreasingimportanceofEnglishasagloballanguage,itisessentialtoadoptnewteachingstrategiesthatemployreflectivethinkingtoenhancestudents'languageskills.
