Introduction: Cervicalspondyloticmyelopathy(CSM)isacommonspinaldisordercausedbydegenerativechangesinthecervicalspine.Itischaracterizedbycompressionofthespinalcord,resultinginpain,motor,andsensorydeficits.WhiletheupperlimbinvolvementinCSMhasbeenwell-documented,littleattentionhasbeengiventotheimpactonthelumbarmuscles.PreviousstudieshavesuggestedtheexistenceoflumbarmuscleabnormalitiesinCSMpatients,butfewhaveinvestigatedtheseabnormalitiesusingnon-invasivetechniquessuchassurfaceelectromyography(sEMG)featureimages. Methods: Atotalof30CSMpatientsand30healthycontrolswererecruitedforthisstudy.Eachparticipantunderwentacomprehensiveclinicalevaluation,includingneurologicalexaminationandradiographicassessments.MultichannelsEMGdatawerecollectedfromthelumbarmusclesduringvariousstaticanddynamictasks.ThesedatawereprocessedtogeneratesEMGfeatureimages,whichprovidedagraphicalrepresentationofthemuscleactivationpatterns. Results: PreliminaryanalysisofthesEMGfeatureimagesrevealeddistinctdifferencesbetweenCSMpatientsandhealthycontrols.CSMpatientsexhibitedalteredactivationpatternsandincreasedmusclefatigabilitycomparedtothecontrolgroup.Theabnormalmuscleactivationwasprimarilyobservedintheparaspinalmuscles,suggestingacompensatorymechanismduetoimpairedcervicalspinalcordfunction.
