ModelingofResistance-ImpedanceSensor Themodeloftheresistance-impedancesensorisbasedontheprincipleoftheelectromagneticfield.Thesensorconsistsofacylindricalelectrodesurroundedbyacylindricalsample.Thesample’selectricalpropertiesarerepresentedbyitsconductivityandpermittivity. Theelectricalimpedanceofthesensoriscalculatedusingthefollowingequation: Z=R+jωL+1jωC whereZisthecompleximpedanceofthesensor,Ristheresistance,jistheimaginaryunit,ωistheangularfrequency,Listheinductance,andCisthecapacitance. Inthemodel,thesensor’sresistanceisassumedtobeconstant,whiletheinductanceandcapacitancearevariableanddependentonthesample’selectricalproperties.TheinductanceandcapacitanceofthesensorcanbecalculatedbyintegratingtheMaxwellequationsandboundaryconditions. SimulationofResistance-ImpedanceSensor Thesimulationoftheresistance-impedancesensorisdoneusingCOMSOLMultiphysicssoftware.Thesoftwareprovidesauserinterfacethatenableseasysetupandmodificationofthemodelparameters.Thesimulationinvolvesmodelingatransientresponseofthesensor,withasmallACvoltageappliedataparticularfrequency. Thesimulationresultsaretheimpedancevaluesofthesensorasafunctionoftime,whichisplottedasagraph.Thegraphshowsthechangesintheimpedanceofthesensorduetochangesinthesample’selectricalproperties.Thesimulationresultshelpinunderstandingthesensor’sbehaviorandperformancewhenexposedtodifferentsubstancesormaterials.
