Introduction: BaFClhasgarneredconsiderableattentioninrecentyearsduetoitspotentialuseasanX-raystoragematerial.X-raystoragematerialsplayacrucialroleinapplicationssuchasmedicalimaging,non-destructivetesting,andsecurityscreening.However,theperformanceofBaFClasanX-raystoragematerialishinderedbythepresenceofdefectsandimpurities.Theunderstandingofthedefectnatureandtheireffectonmaterialpropertiesisessentialforoptimizingtheirperformance. Methodology: Positronannihilationspectroscopy,anon-destructivetechnique,wasemployedtostudythedefectstructureofBaFCl.Positrons,beingtheantimattercounterpartofelectrons,annihilatewithelectronsinthematerial,providingvaluableinformationabouttheelectronicpropertiesandthepresenceofdefects.Thepositronannihilationlifetimespectroscopy(PALS)wasconductedtodeterminethepositronlifetime,whilepositronannihilationDopplerbroadeningspectroscopy(PADB)wasusedtoinvestigatetheDopplerbroadeningparameterSandthecoreelectrondensity. ResultsandDiscussion: ThePALSmeasurementsindicatethepresenceoftwodistinctpositronlifetimecomponentsinBaFCl.Theshorterlifetimecomponentisattributedtopositronannihilationwiththebulkelectrons,whilethelongerlifetimecomponentcorrespondstopositronannihilationwithdefectsandimpuritieswithinthematerial.Theidentificationandcharacterizationofthesedefectsprovidevaluableinsightsintothematerial'sdefectstructureandelectronicproperties. ThePADBmeasurementsrevealimportantinformationabouttheelectronicstructureofBaFCl.TheDopplerbroadeningparameterSisknowntobesensitivetochangesintheelectronicdensityofstat
