Methods: 1.DataCollection:WaterqualitydatafrommonitoringstationsalongtheHeiheRiverBasinwerecollectedforaspecificperiod. 2.WaterQualityIndex(WQI):TheWQI,acomprehensiveindicator,wascalculatedbasedonvariousparameterssuchaspH,dissolvedoxygen(DO),chemicaloxygendemand(COD),totaldissolvedsolids(TDS),andothers. 3.TrendAnalysis:Statisticalanalysisandgraphicalrepresentationwereusedtoidentifythechangingtrendsinwaterqualityparameters. Results: 1.WaterQualityEvaluation:ThecalculatedWQIrevealedtheoverallwaterqualitystatusintheHeiheRiverBasin.BasedontheWQI,waterqualitycanbecategorizedasexcellent,good,fair,poor,andverypoor. 2.TemporalVariation:AnalysisofwaterqualityovertimeindicatedvariationsinspecificparameterssuchasDO,COD,TDS,andpH.Forexample,theremayhavebeenanincreaseinCODduetoincreasedindustrialactivities,leadingtoreducedwaterquality. 3.SpatialVariation:WaterqualityparametersmayshowvariationsalongtheHeiheRiverBasinduetovariousfactorsincludingagriculture,industrialactivities,andpopulationdensity.Forinstance,areasclosetoindustrialzonesmayhavehigherlevelsofpollutantscomparedtoremoteareas. Discussion: 1.FactorsAffectingWaterQuality:ThedegradationofwaterqualityintheHeiheRiverBasincanbeattributedtoseveralfactorssuchaspollutionfromindustrialandagriculturalactivities,untreateddomesticwastewater,andnaturalresourcedegradation. 2.ImpactonEcosystemandHumanHealth:Poorwaterqualitycanhavedetrimentaleffectsonaquaticlifeandhumanhealth.Itcandisruptthebalanceofaquaticecosystems,leadingtolossofbiodiversity.Contaminatedwatersourcescanalsoposehealthrisksforthelocalpopulation,affectingtheirwell-being.
