SynthesisofCeO2Nanoparticles CeO2nanoparticlesweresynthesizedbyasimplecombustionmethod.Astoichiometricamountofceriumnitratewasdissolvedindistilledwaterandammoniumhydroxidewasaddeddropwisetothesolutionwhilestirring.Thesolutionwasthensubjectedtovigorousstirringtoensuretheformationofauniformgel.Thegelwasdriedinanovenat80°Cfor12hoursandthensubjectedtocalcinationat600°Cfor3hours.TheresultingpowderwasthengroundandsievedtoobtainCeO2nanoparticles. DopingofCeO2NanoparticleswithRareEarthIons Rareearth-ion-dopingwascarriedoutbyaconventionalco-precipitationmethod.Astoichiometricamountofceriumnitratewasdissolvedindistilledwater,andthenasmallamountoftherareearthions(Eu3+,Tb3+,orDy3+)wereaddedtothesolutionandstirredfor2hours.Asolutionofsodiumhydroxidewasslowlyaddedtothemixturewhilestirringcontinuously,untilthepHofthesolutionreached9.Thesolutionwasthenstirredforanother2hourstoensureagoodmixingoftherareearthionswiththeCeO2nanoparticles.Themixturewasthencentrifugedandwashedwithdistilledwaterseveraltimestoremoveanyimpurities.Finally,thedopedCeO2nanoparticlesweredriedinanovenat80°Cfor12hours.
