Introduction: Thyroidnodulesareprevalentinpostmenopausalwomen,andtheirdevelopmentisbelievedtobeinfluencedbyhormonalchangesassociatedwithmenopause.Estrogen,akeyhormoneprimarilyproducedbytheovaries,playsacrucialroleinthyroidfunction.Estrogenregulatestheexpressionofseveralgenesinvolvedinthemetabolismofhormones,includingthoseinvolvedinestrogenmetabolismpathways.Thealterationofestrogenlevelsandestrogenmetabolism-relatedgeneexpressioninpostmenopausemaycontributetotheoccurrenceandprogressionofthyroidnodules. Methods: 1.PatientSelectionandSampleCollection:Postmenopausalwomendiagnosedwiththyroidnoduleswillberecruitedforthisstudy.Thyroidnoduletissuesampleswillbecollectedthroughthyroidsurgery. 2.HormoneLevelAssessment:Serumestrogenlevelswillbemeasuredusingareliableandvalidatedassaytechnique. 3.GeneExpressionAnalysis:RNAwillbeextractedfromthyroidnoduletissuesamples,andtheexpressionofestrogenmetabolism-relatedgeneswillbeassessedusingquantitativereal-timepolymerasechainreaction(qRT-PCR). 4.StatisticalAnalysis:Correlationanalysiswillbeperformedtoexploretherelationshipbetweenestrogenlevelsandgeneexpression.Additionally,otherconfoundingfactors,suchasage,bodymassindex(BMI),andmenopausalduration,willbetakenintoconsideration.
