LocationwithinChinaQingdaoislocatedatthesoutherntipoftheShandongPeninsula.Itbordersthreeprefecture-levelcities,namelyYantaitothenortheast,Weifangtothewest,andRizhaotothesouthwest.Thecity'stotaljurisdictionareaoccupies10654km2.Thegeographyofthecityisrelativelyflatwhilemountainsspurupnearby.Thehighestelevationintheareais1133mabovesealevel.Thecityhasa730.64-kilometercoastline.Fivesignificantriversthatflowformorethan50kmcanbefoundintheregion.
