Introduction: Theabilitytolearnindependentlyisessentialinanever-changingworld,andthisholdstrueforEnglishlanguagelearningamongcollegestudents.Inthetraditionaleducationsystem,studentstypicallyrelyheavilyonteachers'guidanceandinstruction.However,therapiddevelopmentoftechnologyandaccesstoavastamountofonlineresourceshavemadeautonomouslearningmoreaccessibleandeffective.ThisstudyseekstoexaminethepracticalityandeffectivenessofautonomousEnglishlearningamongcollegestudentsandidentifythefactorsthatcontributetosuccessfulself-directedlearning. Methods: Thisstudyutilizesamixed-methodapproach,combiningbothqualitativeandquantitativeresearchmethods.Asurveyquestionnairewillbedistributedtoasampleofcollegestudents,aimingtoobtaindiverseperspectivesontheircurrentEnglishlearninghabitsandattitudes.Additionally,in-depthinterviewswillbeconductedwithselectedparticipantstogainadeeperunderstandingoftheirexperiencesandperceptionsregardingautonomouslearning.
