Methods:Arandomizedcontrolledtrialwasconducted,with200pregnantwomenundergoingcesareansectionasparticipants.Theywererandomlydividedintotwogroups:TAESgroupandcontrolgroup.TheTAESgroupreceivedTAESatspecificacupointsfor30minutesbeforesurgery,whilethecontrolgroupreceivedroutinepostoperativecare.TheincidenceofPONVwascomparedbetweenthetwogroupsalongwiththeseverityanddurationofsymptoms.Patientsatisfactionandadverseeffectswerealsoassessed. Results:IntheTAESgroup,theincidenceofPONVwassignificantlylowercomparedtothecontrolgroup(p<0.01).TheseverityanddurationofnauseaandvomitingwerealsoreducedintheTAESgroup(p<0.05).Moreover,patientsintheTAESgroupreportedhigherlevelsofsatisfactioncomparedtothecontrolgroup(p<0.01).Nosignificantadverseeffectswereobservedineithergroup. Conclusion:TranscutaneousacupointelectricalstimulationcombinedwithdexamethasoneiseffectiveinpreventingPONVinpregnantwomenundergoingcesareansection.Itcanreducetheincidence,severity,anddurationofPONVandimprovepatientsatisfactionwithoutsignificantadverseeffects.
