Introduction: Pumpedstoragepowerplantsareanimportanttypeofenergystoragesystem.Theyhavetheadvantagesofefficientenergystorageandrelease,frequencyregulationandpeakshaving.However,theoperationofthepumpedstorageunitisaffectedbymanyfactors,suchasexternalgriddisturbance,loadfluctuation,andinternalequipmentfailure.Therefore,itisnecessarytoconductexperimentalteststoanalyzethedynamicperformanceofthepumpedstorageunitandevaluateitsoperationalreliability. Inthispaper,thelargedisturbancetransitionprocessofa250MWpumpedstorageunitwasanalyzedthroughanexperimentaltest.Thetestresultsprovidevaluabledatafortheoperationandmaintenanceofsimilarunits. ExperimentalTest: Theexperimentaltestwascarriedoutunderthefollowingconditions: -Theunitwasoperatedinpumpingmodewitharatedpowerof250MW; -Thewaterlevelintheupperreservoirwasatthenormaloperatinglevel; -Thewaterlevelinthelowerreservoirwasatthemaximumoperatinglevel; -Thegeneratingunitwasoperatingwithastableloadandfrequency. Thelargedisturbancetransitiontestwasperformedbythefollowingsteps: -Step1:Increasetheloadofthegeneratingunitto80%oftheratedpower,andmaintainitfor10minutes; -Step2:Reducetheloadofthegeneratingunitto60%oftheratedpowerandmaintainitfor10minutes; -Step3:Cutofftheexcitationpowerofthegeneratingunit,andmaintaintheloadfor20seconds; -Step4:Restoretheexcitationpowerofthegeneratingunit,andmaintaintheloadfor20seconds; -Step5:Increasetheloadofthegeneratingunitto90%oftheratedpower,andmaintainitfor10minutes; -Step6:Reducetheloadofthegeneratingunitto70%oftheratedpower,andmaintainitfor10minutes.
