Introduction Javaisawidelyusedobject-orientedprogramminglanguage,widelyusedinonlinegaming,mobileapplications,andwebdevelopment.Withtheincreasingdemandforskilledprofessionalsinthefieldofinformationtechnology,severalinstitutionshaveincludedJavaprogrammingintheirvocationaleducationcurriculum.However,fromaneducator’spointofview,theJavaprogrammingcourseisachallengingonetoteach.ThispaperanalyzesthecurrentissuesinteachingJavaprogrammingtohighschoolstudentsandsuggestssomesolutions. ProblemsinJavaProgrammingTeaching 1.DifficultyLevel Javaisacomplexlanguage,withcountlessfeaturesandfunctions.Thehigh-levelprogramminglanguageischaracterizedbysyntaxcomplexitiesandtakesamorecomprehensiveapproachtosoftwareandprogrammingconcepts,whichcanbeunendurableforbeginners.ThemajorityofvocationalstudentscomefromalowtechnicalbackgroundandtendtostrugglewiththesyntaxandconceptsinvolvedinJavaprogramming. 2.LimitedPracticeTime Vocationalstudentshavefeweropportunitiestopracticeprogrammingthancomputersciencestudents.Alargeportionofvocationalstudentsarefull-timeemployees,andclassesareoftenheldintheeveningsoronweekends.Thisleavesthemwithlesstimetopracticeprogrammingthanthoseattendingfull-timecourses.Theamountofpracticeprovidedduringclasstimeisalsolimited. 3.LackofReal-TimeExamples Theuseofreal-timeexamplesisessentialforstudentstohaveamorepracticalunderstandingoftheconcepttheyarelearning.Unfortunately,thelackofreal-timeexamplesisasignificantprobleminteachingJavaprogramming.Incontrasttotheoreticalknowledge,practicehelpsstudentsperceivecomplexconceptsmoreefficiently.Whileinsomeinstitutions,theuseofreal-timeexamplesisrare,therearenearlynoreal-timeexamplesavailablefornovicelearners. 4.NegativeAttitudeTowardsC
