Introduction: Theironoreminingindustrygeneratesvastamountsoftailings,whicharetypicallystoredintailingsdams.However,thesedamsposeasignificantriskoffailure,leadingtocatastrophicenvironmentalandsafetyconsequences.Tomitigatetheserisks,approachessuchasalkali-activatedmaterialshavebeenexplored.Alkaliactivationinvolvestheadditionofalkalineactivators,suchassodiumhydroxideorsodiumsilicate,toinduceachemicalreactionthatsolidifiesandstrengthensthetailings.Wet-drycycling,whichsimulatesthenaturalexposuretoalternatingwetanddryconditions,islikelytoinfluencetheperformanceofAAMs.Understandingtheeffectsofwet-drycyclingonthesolidificationandstrengthcharacteristicsiscrucialforoptimizingthestabilizationprocessandensuringthelong-termdurabilityofthestabilizedtailings.
