Introduction Englishtextremovalisachallengingtaskinimageprocessingandcomputervision.Itinvolvesremovingoverlays,watermarks,andtextfromimagestoimprovevisualqualityandpreparethemforsubsequentanalysisand/orprocessing.Textremovalisawidelyusedtechniqueinavarietyofapplications,includingdigitalforensics,imagerestoration,andcontentanalysis. Theprimarychallengeoftextremovalisthatthetextmayhavedifferentfontstyles,sizes,andcolors,anditmayoverlapwiththebackgroundorotherobjectsintheimage.Toeffectivelyremovetext,itisnecessarytodistinguishthetextfromtheotherpartsoftheimageandtorepairtheimageinawaythatmakestheremovallooknatural. Manytextremovalalgorithmshavebeenproposedintheliterature.Theseincludetemplate-basedmethods,segmentation-basedmethods,andinpainting-basedmethods.However,mostofthesemethodshavelimitationswhenitcomestodealingwiththechallengesoftextremoval.Forexample,template-basedmethodsarenoteffectiveinhandlingvariabletextsizesandfontstyles,whilesegmentation-basedmethodsmayfailincaseswherethetextoverlapswithotherobjectsintheimage. Inthispaper,weproposeanimprovedalgorithmforautomaticallyremovingEnglishtextfromimages.Ouralgorithmincorporatesstrokewidthdetectionandenhancedblockrepairmethodstoeffectivelydealwithtextremovalchallengessuchasvariabletextsizes,fontstyles,andbackgrounds.Themaincontributionsofouralgorithmareasfollows: 1.Thealgorithmisbasedonstrokewidthdetection,whichisapowerfultoolfordistinguishingtextfromotherimageelements. 2.Thealgorithmincorporatesaconnectedcomponentanalysistoaccuratelysegmentthet
