CommunicationFilters CommunicationfiltersarepassivedevicesthatareusedtosuppressunwantedRFsignalswhileallowingdesiredsignalstopassthrough.Theyaretypicallypassive,consistingofinductors,capacitors,andresistorsthataredesignedtofilterspecificfrequencies.TheyareappliedtoRFcommunicationequipmentsuchasmodems,radios,andtelevisionstosuppressanynoisethatcouldinterferewiththecommunicationsignals.Communicationfilterscanalsobeusedinpowersystems,wheretheyareappliedtoprotectelectronicequipmentfromthepowersystemnoise. Breakers Breakersorcircuitbreakersareprotectivedevicesthatareusedtointerrupthighcurrentfaultsinelectricalpowersystems.Thebreakingoperationofabreakerinvolvesopeningthecontactsofthebreakertointerruptthecurrentflow.Theyareusedtoprotectdevicesandequipmentbydetachingthemfromthefaultcurrentbeforeitcancauseanydamage.Atypicalbreakercontainsamechanicalswitchandatrippingmechanismwhichcouldbeathermalbimetallicstriporanelectromagnet.
