Introduction Sulfideglassesareinorganicglassesmainlycomposedofsulfur,chalcogenides,andmetals.Duetotheiruniqueproperties,suchashighrefractiveindex,lowphononenergy,andhighionicconductivity,theyhavebeenwidelyusedinvariousfields,suchasoptics,electronics,andenergystorage.However,theinherentstructuralcomplexityoftheseglasseshasmadethemchallengingtostudy.Recentadvancesinexperimentaltechniques,suchashigh-resolutiontransmissionelectronmicroscopy(HRTEM)andX-raydiffraction(XRD),haveprovidednewinsightsintothemicrostructureandbehavioroftheseglasses. MicrostructureandNanophaseSeparation ThestructureofsulfideglassesischaracterizedbythepresenceofanetworkformedbyS-SandS-Mbonds,whichisacombinationoftetrahedral(SP3)andtrigonalplanar(SP2)coordinationenvironments.Thedegreeofnetworkpolymerizationdependsonthecompositionandpreparationmethod.Somesulfideglassesexhibitphaseseparation,whichisthepresenceoftwoormoredistinctphaseswithdifferentcompositions.Thiscanoccurduetotheimmiscibilityofcomponentsorbytheformationofnanoscaleclustersofaminorcomponent.
