II.Background 1.Radarsat-2:Radarsat-2isaC-bandsyntheticapertureradar(SAR)satellitethathasthecapabilitytopenetratevegetationcanopiesandmeasurethebackscatterfromthegroundsurface.SARdataissensitivetosoilmoistureandallowsfortheestimationofvegetationcoverageevenindensecanopies. 2.Landsat-8:Landsat-8isamulti-spectralsatellitethatprovideshigh-resolutionopticalimagery.Thecombinationofvisible,near-infrared,andshortwaveinfraredbandsallowsforaccuratemappingofvegetationcoverage.
