Introduction: Alpinemeadowsarecharacterizedbyauniquesetofenvironmentalconditions,includinglowtemperatures,lownutrientavailability,andashortgrowingseason.Theseconditionslimitplantproductivityandnutrientcycling,makingnitrogenacrucialelementfortheseecosystems.Nitrogenturnoverprocesses,includingnitrogenfixation,mineralization,nitrification,denitrification,andimmobilization,playavitalroleindeterminingnitrogenavailabilityandcyclinginalpinemeadowsoils. Methods: Toinvestigatenitrogenturnoverinalpinemeadowsoils,variousresearchmethodshavebeenemployed.Theseincludefieldobservations,labandgreenhouseexperiments,andmoleculartechniques.Fieldobservationsprovidevaluableinsightsintothenaturalnitrogenturnoverprocessesintheecosystem,whilelabandgreenhouseexperimentsallowforcontrolledmanipulationofenvironmentalvariablestostudytheireffectsonnitrogencycling.Moleculartechniques,suchasstableisotopetracers,DNAsequencing,andquantitativepolymerasechainreaction(qPCR),havebeenusedtoexaminethemicrobialcommunitystructureandfunctionalgenesinvolvedinnitrogenturnover. Results: Thestudyofnitrogenturnoverinalpinemeadowsoilshasrevealedseveralkeyfindings.Firstly,thelowtemperaturesandshortgrowingseasonsintheseecosystemslimittheratesofnitrogenmineralizationandnitrification.Asaresult,nitrogenavailabilitytoplantsisoftenlimited.Secondly,nitrogenfixationbysymbioticbacteria,suchaslegumes,contributessignificantlytonitrogeninputsinalpinemeadows.Thirdly,denitrificationisanimpo
