Introduction: TheRedChinaberry(Meliaazedarach)isawidelydistributedtreespecieswitharichhistoryoftraditionalmedicinalandculturaluses.Thespeciesalsoexhibitsvariousecologicalroles,suchasprovidingshade,timber,andshelterforbirdsandinsectsalike.StudyingthegeneticdiversityofRedChinaberryiscrucialforunderstandingitsevolutionarypotential,populationdynamics,anddevisingeffectiveconservationstrategies.SSRmarkersarewidelyusedinpopulationgeneticsstudiesduetotheirco-dominantinheritance,highpolymorphismlevels,andeaseofdetection. Methods: Atotalof100RedChinaberryindividualsweresampledfromdifferentlocationsacrossitsdistributionrange.GenomicDNAwasextractedfromeachindividualandPCRamplificationwasperformedusingasetofselectedSSRmarkers.Theamplifiedproductswereseparatedonpolyacrylamidegelsandvisualizedusingstandardsilverstainingmethods.TheresultingSSRprofileswerescored,andgeneticdiversityparameterssuchasthenumberofalleles,allelicrichness,andgenediversitywerecalculated.Geneticstructureanalysiswasconductedtoassessthepopulationdifferentiation,geneflow,andgeneticclusteringusingsoftwareprograms.
