Introduction: Frictionstirwelding(FSW)isasolid-statejoiningprocessthathasgainedsignificantattentioninrecentyears.Itoffersnumerousadvantagessuchaslowdistortion,absenceofsolidificationdefects,andbettermechanicalpropertiescomparedtofusionweldingtechniques.FSWinvolvestheuseofarotatingstirringtooltogeneratefrictionalheat,whichsoftensthematerialandfacilitatesitsdeformation.Thejointformationisachievedthroughtheplasticizedmaterialbeingstirredandconsolidatedunderthepressureappliedbythetool. Methods: Inthisstudy,AA6061-T6aluminumalloyandpurecopperwithathicknessof3mmwereselectedasthebasematerials.TheAl-CujointswerefabricatedusinganFSWmachineequippedwithdifferentstirringheads.Theparametersinvestigatedincludedstirringheadshape,rotationalspeed,traversespeed,andaxialforce.Themicrostructureandmechanicalpropertiesoftheweldswereevaluatedusingopticalmicroscopy,scanningelectronmicroscopy,andmechanicaltesting. Results: TheresultsshowedthattheshapeofthestirringheadsignificantlyinfluencedthemicrostructureandmechanicalpropertiesoftheAl-Cujoints.Twotypesofstirringheads,cylindrical-pinandtaper-pin,werecompared.Thecylindrical-pinheadproducedauniformandrefinedmicrostructurewithwell-dispersedCuparticlesinthealuminummatrix.Ontheotherhand,thetaper-pinheadresultedinacoarsemicrostructurewithagglomeratedCuparticlesatthejointinterface.Themechanicalpropertiesoftheweldsfabricatedusingthecylindrical-pinheadwerefoundtobesuperior
