Introduction Piled-raftfoundationsystemsarecommonlyusedtosupportlargestructuresandinfrastructures,suchasbridges,buildings,andoffshoreplatforms,duetotheirabilitytodistributetheloadandreducethesettlementofthefoundation.Theinteractionbetweenthepiled-raftfoundation,soil,andsuperstructureisimportantforevaluatingtheseismicbehaviorofthefoundationsystem.Thesoil-structureinteraction(SSI)isdefinedastheexchangeofforcesbetweensoilandastructureandcanaffecttheresponseofthestructureduringseismicloading.TheSSIisdependentonseveralfactors,includingthestiffnessanddampingofthesoilandthestiffnessofthestructure. Inthisstudy,afiniteelementanalysiswasusedtoinvestigatetheseismicresponseofapiled-raftfoundation-soil-framestructureconsideringmutualinteraction.TheaimofthisresearchistoevaluatetheimpactofSSIontheseismicperformanceofthefoundationsystemandinvestigatetheeffectsofdifferentearthquakeexcitationsontheresponseofthefoundationsystem. ModelDescription Themodelanalyzedinthisstudyconsistsofapile-raftfoundation,soil,andaframestructure.Thepile-raftfoundationiscomposedofconcretepiles,aconcreteraft,andasteelframe.Thesoillayerliesbeneaththefoundationsystemandisrepresentedbyanisotropic,linearelasticmaterial.Theframestructureisathree-storysteelbuildingthatissupportedbythefoundationsystem.
