Introduction Intermittentreactionprocessesareprevalentinmanyindustrialapplications,suchasthebatchchemicalprocesses,biologicalprocesses,fermentationprocesses,andsoon.Theseprocessestypicallyexhibitseverenonlinearities,time-varyingdynamics,andcomplexbehavior,whichmakeitchallengingtoaccomplishhigh-precisioncontrolperformance.Theprimaryreasonforthedifficultiesincontrollingintermittentreactionprocessesistheirintermittentbehavior,whichmeansthattheresponsesignaloftheprocessvariessignificantlyfromcycletocycle.Moreover,thelongsettlingtime,largeovershoot,andhighdegreeofnonlinearityintheseprocessesposesignificantchallengestothecontroldesign. Iterativelearningcontrol(ILC)isaneffectivemethodfordealingwiththeintermittentbehaviorinreactionprocesses.ThemainideaofILCistousethehistorialknowledgeofaprocesstorefineandimprovethecontrolperformanceiterativelyoversuccessivecycles.ILChasattractedsignificantattentioninrecentyearsandhasbeenwidelyappliedinmanyfields,includingrobotics,energymanagement,biomedicine,andprocesscontrol.
