I.LiteratureReview Inrecentyears,withthedevelopmentofresearchmethods,thestudyofclassroomdiscourseinEnglishteachinghasbecomemoreandmoreimportant.Manyscholarsanalyzetheimportanceofclassroomdiscourseinlanguagelearningandteachingfromdifferentperspectives.Theybelievethatclassroomdiscourseisanimportantpartofteachingactivities,whichplaysadecisiveroleintheeffectivenessoflanguageteachingandlearning.AccordingtoSinclairandCoulthard(1975),classroomdiscourseisatypeoflanguagethatteachersandstudentsusetoconductclassroomactivitiesandexchanges.FirthandWagner(1997)mentionedthatclassroomdiscourseisnotonlythemediumoflanguageteaching,butalsoawaytoconveyculturalnormsandvalues.Therefore,classroomdiscourseisimportantinlanguagelearningandteaching. II.ResearchProcedure A.Participants ThestudywasconductedinamiddleschoolinChina.Atotalof50studentsand4Englishteachersparticipatedinthestudy.ThestudentswerefromGrade7and8,andtheteachershadmorethan3yearsofteachingexperience.
