TheexperimentaltestwasconductedonascalemodelofZhangXianarchtrussstructure,andthemodalparameterswereobtainedusingtheimpacthammertestandthevibrationresponsemeasurementsystem.Thedamagewassimulatedbyartificiallyintroducingtwodifferentdamagescenarios,namely,thedamageofmemberstiffnessandthedamageofmembermass,tothestructuralmodel. Themodalparametersoftheundamagedanddamagedstructureswereanalyzedandcomparedtoidentifythedamagelocationandextent.Theresultsshowthatthenaturalfrequenciesandmodeshapesofthestructurechangesignificantlywiththeintroductionofdamage,andtheextentofdamagecanbeestimatedbythechangesinmodalparameters. Furthermore,adamageindexbasedonthenormalizedmodeshapedifferencewasproposedtoquantifythedamageseverityofthestructure.Theeffectivenessandfeasibilityoftheproposeddamageidentificationmethodwereverifiedbytheresultsoftheexperimentaltest. TheexperimentalstudyprovidesapracticalmethodfordamagedetectionandassessmentofZhangXianarchtrussstructures,whichcancontributetothedevelopmentofstructuralhealthmonitoringandmaintenancetechniquesofsuchstructures.
