Introduction Airconditioningsystemsareoneofthemajorenergyconsumersinmoderncommercialbuildings.InShanghai,wheretherearehotandhumidsummers,airconditioningsystemsarenecessaryformaintainingoccupantcomfortlevels.However,theexcessiveuseofairconditioningsystemsmayleadtoanincreaseinenergyconsumption,costingbuildingownerssignificantamountsinenergybills.Inordertoaddressthisissue,energy-savingmeasuresandcontrolsforairconditioningsystemsneedtobeimplemented. Oneoftheapproachestoreduceenergyconsumptionistheimplementationofenergyconsumptionlimitsfortheairconditioningsystemsinthebuilding.ThepurposeofthisstudyistoinvestigatetheeffectsofimplementingenergyconsumptionlimitsinanofficebuildinginShanghai.Thestudywillalsoexaminetheoperationalperformanceofthebuildingbeforeandaftertheimplementationofthelimitcontrols.
