Introduction: Plantfactorieshavegainedsignificantattentionasapromisingsolutionforfoodproductionduetotheirabilitytoprovidecontrolledenvironmentsandyear-roundcultivation.Leafygreens,suchaslettuce,areamongthemostcommonlycultivatedcropsinplantfactoriesduetotheirhighnutritionalvalueandfastgrowth.Achievingoptimalgrowthandqualityofleafygreensinplantfactoriesrequirescarefulconsiderationofvariousfactors,includinglightintensity,plantdensity,andharvestingperiod.Thisstudyaimedtoexploretheeffectsofthesefactorsontheyieldandqualityofleafygreensinaplantfactorysetting. Methods: Arandomizedcontrolledtrialwasconductedinaplantfactoryusinglettuceasthemodelplant.Threeindependentvariableswereinvestigated:lightintensity,plantdensity,andharvestingperiod.Threelightintensitieswereapplied:low(100μmol/m²/s),medium(200μmol/m²/s),andhigh(300μmol/m²/s).Similarly,threeplantdensitiesweretested:low(10plants/m²),medium(20plants/m²),andhigh(30plants/m²).Finally,threeharvestingperiodswereconsidered:early(4weeksafterplanting),mid(6weeksafterplanting),andlate(8weeksafterplanting).Eachtreatmentcombinationwasreplicatedthreetimestoensuredatareliability.
