Introduction Bonetissueengineeringisanemergingfieldthataimstoregenerateorrepairbonedefectsorinjuriesusingbiomaterials,cells,andgrowthfactors.Despiterecentadvancesinthisfield,achievingadequateboneregenerationremainsachallenge.Hydroxyapatite(HA)andtitaniumdioxide(TiO2)aretwocommonlyusedbiomaterialsforbonetissueengineering.HAisanaturalcomponentofboneandhasexcellentbiocompatibility,osteoconduction,andosteoinductionproperties.TiO2,ontheotherhand,hasgoodmechanicalstrength,corrosionresistance,andbioactivity.HA-TiO2compositecoatingshavebeenextensivelystudiedaspotentialbonetissueengineeringmaterialsduetotheircombinedadvantagesofbothmaterials. Inthisstudy,weinvestigatedthebiocompatibilityandanimalexperimentsofHA-TiO2compositecoatings.TheaimofthisstudywastoevaluatethefeasibilityofusingHA-TiO2compositecoatingsasabiomaterialforbonetissueengineering.
