Methods: 1.Materials: -Polyvinylidenefluoride(PVDF) -Polymeradditivessuchaspolyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP)andpolyethyleneglycol(PEG) -Solvents:N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF)andN-methyl-2-pyrrolidone(NMP) 2.PVDFBlendedHollowFiberMembranePreparation: a.PolymerBlendPreparation: -WeighthedesiredamountofPVDF,PVP,andPEGaccordingtothedesiredcomposition. -DissolvePVDF,PVP,andPEGinasolventmixtureofDMFandNMP.Stirthesolutionuntilhomogenous. b.HollowFiberMembranePreparation: -Prepareadopesolutionbydissolvingthepolymerblendinasuitablesolventmixturetoachievethedesiredconcentration. -Degassingthedopesolutiontoremoveanytrappedairbubbles. -Useahollowfiberspinningdevice,suchasaspinneretorneedle,toextrudethedopesolutionintoacoagulationbath. -Thecoagulationbathcanbeeithernonsolvent-inducedorthermally-induced,dependingonthedesiredmembranestructure. 3.MembraneCharacterization: a.MorphologicalAnalysis: -Examinethemembranemorphologyusingscanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM). -Observethestructure,porosity,andporesizeofthemembranesurfaceandcross-section. -Measuretheaverageporesizeusingimageanalysissoftware. b.MechanicalProperties: -Testthetensilestrengthandelongationatbreakofthehollowfibermembraneusingauniversaltestingmachine. -Evaluatethemechanicalstabilityofthemembrane. c.PermeabilityandSelectivity: -Assessthepermeabilityofdifferentgases(e.g.,nitrogen,oxygen,carbondioxide)throughthemembraneusingagaspermeationsystem. -Determinetheselectivityofthemembranetowardsspecificgaspairs.
