Background SoilSourceHeatPump(SSHP)systemsareatypeofgeothermalheatpumpsystemthatutilizestheEarth'sthermalenergytoprovideheatingandcoolingforbuildings.Duringthewinterseason,thesystemabsorbstheheatfromtheground,whichisthenutilizedtoheatthebuilding.Conversely,duringthesummerseason,thesystemremovestheheatfromthebuildingandtransfersitbacktotheground. TheoperationofSSHPsystemsisheavilydependentonthesoiltemperature,bothatthesurfaceandatdeeperdepths.Additionally,thesystem'sefficiencyiscloselyrelatedtothesoilproperties,suchassoilthermalconductivity,soilmoisture,andporosity.Therefore,theselectionofsoilandlocationoftheSSHPsystemshouldbecarefullyconsideredtoensureoptimumperformance. Methodology Inthisstudy,wefocusedontheevaluationoftheperformanceofanSSHPsysteminstalledinagreenbuildinglocatedinacoldclimatezone.Thestudywasconductedoveroneyear,wherebythesystem'soperatingdatawascollectedandanalyzed.Thesystemincludedaground-loopheatexchanger,acompressor,acondenser,anexpansionvalve,circulationpumps,andacontrolsystem.Thecontrolsystemwasprogrammedtoadjusttheoperatingparametersbasedonthebuilding'stemperaturerequirements. TheperformanceanalysisoftheSSHPsystemwasconductedbasedonthefollowingparameters: 1.COP(CoefficientofPerformance) TheCOPisameasureofthesystem'sefficiencyandiscalculatedastheratiooftheheatgeneratedbythesystemtothepowerconsumed.AhigherCOPvalueindicatesthatthesystemismoreenergyefficient. 2.HeatingandCoolingCapacity TheheatingandcoolingcapacityoftheSSHPsystemwasdeterminedbymeasuringtheamountofheatgeneratedbythesystemduringthewinterseasonandthe
