Introduction TheChuanxiTroughisoneoftheimportantpetroleumexplorationareasinChina.TheJurassicSandixiaomiaoFormationintheChuanxiTroughisknownforitshigh-qualityclasticrockreservoirs.Thediageneticprocessisoneofthemostcriticalfactorsaffectingthephysicalandchemicalpropertiesofreservoirrocks.Therefore,itisessentialtostudythediageneticprocessoftheSandixiaomiaoFormation.Inthisstudy,basedonfieldoutcropcharacteristics,opticalmicroscopeobservations,analysisofthinsections,fluidinclusionmeasurements,andX-raydiffractionanalysis,thediageneticprocessoftheSandixiaomiaoFormationwasanalyzed,andthedominatingfactorscontrollingitsdiageneticprocesswerediscussed. Geologicalsetting TheChuanxiTroughislocatedinthesoutheasternmarginoftheTibetanPlateauandiscomposedofCenozoicandMesozoicstrata.TheMesozoicstrataincludeLowerJurassicLeikoupoGroup,UpperJurassicPenglaizhenGroup,andLowerCretaceousLongwangmiaoFormation.Amongthem,thePenglaizhenGroupiscomposedoftheshallow-marinefaciesinthewesternpartoftheChuanxiTroughandthebraidedriverdeltafaciesintheeasternpartoftheChuanxiTrough.TheSandixiaomiaoFormationinthePenglaizhenGroupismainlydistributedintheeasternpartoftheChuanxiTrough.TheSandixiaomiaoFormationhasathicknessof200mto400mandismainlycomposedofsandstone,siltstone,andmudstone.ThereservoirqualityoftheSandixiaomiaoFormationisverygood,anditisanessentialtargetforoilandgasexplorationintheChuanxiTrough.
