Introduction Coalisaprimaryenergysourceformanycountries,anditstransportationandprocessingofteninvolvecomplexoperations.Thecoaltowerunloadingdeviceisanessentialpieceofequipmentinthecoalhandlingsystem,responsiblefortransferringcoalfromthetowertotheconveyorbeltbelow.However,themanualcontroloftheunloadingprocessislabor-intensive,time-consuming,andpronetoerrors,potentiallyleadingtoaccidentsordamagetotheequipment.Therefore,automationtechnologyisincreasinglyadoptedinthecoaltowerunloadingsystem. Inthispaper,wepresentacontrolsystemforthehydrauliccoaltowerunloadingdevicebasedonPLCtechnologythatimprovesthesafety,efficiency,andaccuracyoftheunloadingprocess.Thesystemarchitectureanddesigndetailsarediscussedinthefollowingsections. SystemArchitecture Figure1showsthesystemarchitectureofthehydrauliccoaltowerunloadingdevicecontrolsystembasedonPLC.Thesystemconsistsofthreesubsystems:thePLCcontrolsubsystem,thehydraulicsubsystem,andthemechanicalsubsystem.ThePLCcontrolsubsystemisresponsiblefortheoverallcontrolandcoordinationofthesystem,collectingandprocessingthesignalsfromthesensorsandcontrollingthehydraulicandmechanicalcomponents.Thehydraulicsubsystemsuppliesthehydraulicforceneededforthedevice'sliftingandlowering,whilethemechanicalsubsystemincludesthevariousmechanicalcomponentsthatperformthephysicaltasks.
