Introduction Conjugatedpolymersareaclassofmaterialswithπ-electrondelocalizationalongtheirbackbonechains,whichendowthemwithsemiconductiveproperties.Theyhaveattractedsignificantattentioninvariousfields,includingorganicsolarcells,light-emittingdiodes,andfield-effecttransistors.Theπ-conjugatedsystemscanbeeasilymodifiedbyincorporatingvariousfunctionalgroups,anddifferenttypesofpolymerscanbeachievedbycontrollingthereactionconditions. Withthedevelopmentofsyntheticmethods,increasinglycomplexandsophisticatedπ-conjugatedpolymershavebeendesignedandsynthesized,whichhaveexhibitedenhancedoptoelectronicproperties.Amongthem,themoleculescontainingtree-likestructureshaveattractedparticularattentionduetotheiruniqueproperties,suchashighmolecularweight,enhancedsolubility,andfavorablefilm-formingproperties. Inthisreview,wesummarizerecentadvancesinthesynthesisandmorphologycontrolofπ-conjugatedpolymerswithtree-likebranchingstructures.Wealsodiscussthechallengesandtrendsinthisfield. SyntheticApproachesforTree-likeπ-ConjugatedPolymers Thesynthesisoftree-likeπ-conjugatedpolymerscanbebroadlydividedintotwocategories:step-growthpolymerizationandchain-growthpolymerization.Theformerisbasedontheformationofcovalentbondsbetweenmonomerstoformanetworkstructure,whilethelatterinvolvestheinsertionofmonomersintothegrowingchains.
