MaterialsandMethods Materials MnemiopsistentacleswerecollectedfromthecoastalwatersofChangdaoIsland,Shandongprovince,China.NRK-52EcellswereobtainedfromtheCellBankoftheChineseAcademyofSciences(Shanghai,China).Fetalbovineserum(FBS),penicillin-streptomycinsolution,andothercellculturereagentswerepurchasedfromGibco(GrandIsland,NY,USA). PreparationofMnemiopsisTentacleExtract(MTE) FreshMnemiopsistentacleswerehomogenizedindistilledwateronice,andthehomogenatewascentrifugedat10,000gfor10minat4°C.Theresultingsupernatantwasfilteredthrougha0.22-µmmembraneandstoredat−80°Cuntiluse. HemolyticAssay ThehemolyticactivityofMTEwasassessedusingapreviouslydescribedmethod(Kumaretal.,2016).Briefly,humanRBCswerecollectedfromhealthydonorsandwashedthreetimeswithphosphate-bufferedsaline(PBS).DifferentconcentrationsofMTEwereincubatedwith5%RBCsuspensioninPBSat37°Cfor1h.Thereactionmixturewascentrifugedat1000 gfor10 min,andthesupernatantwascollectedformeasurementofhemoglobinrel
