I.Introduction ControllerAreaNetwork(CAN)isapopularcommunicationprotocolthatiswidelyusedinthefieldofembeddedsystems.Itprovidesahigh-speed,reliable,andefficientmeansofcommunicationbetweenmicrocontrollersanddevices.VxWorksoperatingsystemisareal-timeoperatingsystem(RTOS)thatiscommonlyusedinthedevelopmentofembeddedsystems.ThecombinationofVxWorksandCANcommunicationtechnologyprovidesapowerfultoolforthedevelopmentofembeddedsystems. II.BasicPrincipleoftheCANProtocol TheCANprotocolisaserialcommunicationprotocolthatwasoriginallydevelopedforuseintheautomotiveindustry.Itisnowwidelyusedinarangeofapplicationsincludingindustrialautomation,medicalequipment,andaerospace.ThebasicprincipleoftheCANprotocolisthatitallowsmultipledevicestocommunicatewitheachotheroverasharednetwork. IntheCANprotocol,therearetwotypesofnodes:controllersandperipherals.Thecontrollersareresponsibleforsendingandreceivingmessages,whiletheperipheralsareresponsibleforgeneratingandprocessingthemessages.TheCANprotocolusesamessage-basedcommunicationmodelwheremessagesaretransmittedinframes.Eachframeconsistsofanidentifier,whichisusedtoidentifythemessage,andadatafield,whichcontainsthemessageitself. III.HardwareArchitectureoftheCANCommunicationCard TheCANcommunicationcardisaninterfacecardthatisusedtoconnectamicrocontrollertoaCANnetwork.ThehardwarearchitectureoftheCANcommunicationcardconsistsoftwomainparts:themicrocontrollerandtheCANcontroller.
