Introduction Electrodepositionisawidelyusedmethodtodepositmetalcoatingsondifferentsubstrates.Itiswidelyusedinindustrialapplicationsforimprovingthefunctionalandprotectivepropertiesofthesubstrate.Electrodepositioninvolvestheconversionofmetallicionsintometallicsolidsonthesubstratesurface.Thepropertiesofthecoatingdependontheprocessparametersandthepropertiesoftheelectrolyte.Traditionalelectrolytessuchasaqueoussolutions,havelimitationssuchaslowsolubilityofmetalsalts,poorwettability,andlimitedstability.Ionicliquids(ILs)haveemergedaspromisingelectrolytesalternativetowater-basedelectrolytesbecauseoftheiruniquepropertiessuchashighconductivity,lowvaporpressure,wideelectrochemicalwindows,andalargesolubilityrangeformetalsalts. Relineionicliquidisakindofhalide-basedIL,whichhasgoodelectrochemicalstability,highconductivity,andlowtoxicity,makingitapotentialcandidateforelectrodepositionofmetalcoatings.Inthisstudy,weinvestigatedtheelectrodepositionofzinccoatingsandcompositecoatingsinRelineionicliquid,andevaluatedtheirproperties.
