MEMSGyroscopeOverview AMEMSgyroscopeisasmall,low-powerdevicethatcandetecttheangularrateofthedeviceitismountedon.Thisangularrateismeasuredasthechangeinangularvelocitywithrespecttotime.ThebasicprincipleofoperationofaMEMSgyroscopeisbasedontheCorioliseffect.TheCorioliseffectisthedeflectionofamovingobjectthatoccurswhentheobjectisviewedfromarotatingframeofreference. TheMEMSgyroscopeconsistsofasensingelement,whichisusuallyamovingmass(proofmass)suspendedbyflexiblehinges.Theproofmassisdriventooscillateinaplaneperpendiculartotheinputaxis.TheCorioliseffectcausesadisplacementoftheproofmassalongadirectionperpendiculartotheoscillationaxis,whichisproportionaltotheangularrate.Thisdisplacementisdetectedbyasensingelement,whichconvertsitintoanelectricalsignalproportionaltotheangularrate. MEMSGyroscopeSignalConditioningCircuit TheMEMSgyroscopesignalconditioningcircuitisdesignedtoprocesstheelectricalsignalfromthesensingelementandextracttheangularratemeasurement.Thesignalconditioningcircuitcomprisesseveralfunctionalblocks,includingtheReadoutcircuit,whichisthefocusofthispaper.TheReadoutcircuitisresponsiblefordetecting,amplifyingandfilteringtheoutputsignalfromthesensingelement,andconvertingitintoavoltageproportionaltotheangularrate.
