AG490isaselectiveinhibitoroftheJanuskinase/signaltransducerandactivatoroftranscription(JAK/STAT)signaltransductionpathway,whichisinvolvedinmultiplecellularactivities,includingcellproliferation,differentiation,andapoptosis(BrombergandDarnell,2000).IthasbeenreportedthatAG490caninhibittheproliferationofdifferenttypesofcancercellsandinduceapoptosis(Mandaletal.,2014).Cisplatinisawidelyusedchemotherapydrugforthetreatmentofvarioussolidtumors,includingcervicalcancer.ItworksbyinducingDNAdamageandtriggeringcellcyclearrestandapoptosis(Galluzzietal.,2012).However,thetherapeuticefficacyofcisplatinislimitedbydrugresistanceandtoxicity(Kelland,2007).Therefore,combiningcisplatinwithotherdrugsmayenhanceitsantitumoreffectsandreduceitstoxicity. Inthisstudy,weinvestigatedtheeffectsofAG490combinedwithcisplatinontheproliferationandapoptosisofhumancervicalcancerHCEIcells.
