Introduction: TheNo.4Dawdingcoalseamisexposedtothesurface,makingitvulnerabletofiresandotherhazards.Thecurrentfireinthecoalseamhasbeenburningforseveralmonthsandposesaseriousthreattothesafetyofworkersandtheenvironment.Theuseofnumericalsimulationtounderstandthefirebehavioranddevelopeffectivecontrolstrategiesisessentialtoensurethesafetyofworkersandminimizethedamagetotheenvironment. Methodology: ThenumericalsimulationwasconductedusingtheFireDynamicsSimulator(FDS)software,whichsimulatesthephysicsoffirespreadandcombustion.Thesimulationmodelofthecoalseamwasconstructedbasedonfielddataandliteraturereview.Thecombustioncharacteristicsofthecoalweredeterminedthroughexperimentalresearch.Thesimulationwasvalidatedthroughcomparisonwithfieldobservations. Results: Thesimulationresultsshowthatthefireinthecoalseamisfueledbythecombustiblegasesreleasedfromthecoalandtheoxygenintheair.Thefirehasspreadhorizontallyandverticallythroughthecoalseam,creatingacomplexburningpattern.Thesimulationalsorevealsthatthetemperatureinthecoalseamcanreachupto1000°C,whichposesasignificantrisktothesafetyofworkers. Application: Thesimulationresultshavebeenusedtodevelopeffectivecontrolstrategiestoextinguishthefire.Thestrategiesincludesealingthecoalseamtolimittheoxygensupply,injectinginertgasestosuppressthecombustion,andusingwatermisttolowerthetemperature.Theimplementationofthesestrategieshasbeensuccessfulinreducingthespreadofthefireandloweringthetemperatureinthecoalseam. Conclusion: Thenumericalsimulationprovidesvaluableinsightsintothemechanismofthefireinthecoalseamandisessentialtodevelopeffectivecontrolstrategies.Themid-termresultsofthesimulationhavebeenusedtoimplementcontrolstrategiesthathavebeensuccessfulinreducingthespreadofthefireandlow
