聚乙烯接枝马来酸酐及其增容增韧与粘结性能研究的中期报告 Abstract Inthisproject,westudiedthegraftingofmaleicanhydrideontopolyethyleneanditseffectonthetoughness,bondingstrengthandcompatibilitywithothermaterials.Inthefirststage,thepolyethylenewasmodifiedbyaradicalinitiatorandthemaleicanhydridemoleculewasgraftedontothepolymerchain.Inthesecondstage,themodifiedpolyethylenewasblendedwithvariousotherpolymersandadditives,andtheresultingblendswerecharacterizedintermsoftheirtoughness,bondingstrengthandcompatibility.Theresultsshowedthatthegraftingofmaleicanhydrideontopolyethylenesignificantlyimproveditstoughnessandbondingstrength,andenhanceditscompatibilitywithothermaterials. Introduction Polyethyleneisoneofthemostwidelyusedplasticsduetoitslowcost,availabilityandeaseofprocessing.However,itisalsoknownforitslowtoughnessandpoorbondingproperties.Toovercometheselimitations,variousmodificationtechniqueshavebeendeveloped,includinggraftingofmaleicanhydrideontothepolyethylenebackbone.Thismodificationintroducespolarcarboxylicgroupsontothepolymerchain,whichcanenhancethecompatibilitybetweenpolyethyleneandotherpolarmaterialsandimproveitsmechanicalproperties. ExperimentalSection Inthefirststage,high-densitypolyethylene(HDPE)wasmodifiedbyaradicalinitiator,benzoylperoxide,andgraftedwithdifferentamountsofmaleicanhydride(MA)usingasolutiongraftingmethod.TheresultingMA-graftedpolyethylene(HDPE-g-MA)wascharacterizedbyFouriertransforminfraredspectroscopy(FTIR)andthermogravimetricanalysis(TGA).Inthesecondstage,theHDPE-g-MAwasblendedwithvariouspolymersandadditives,suchaspolypropylene(PP),ethylene-propylene-dieneterpolymer(EPDM),andacompatibilizer(ethylene-acrylicacidcopolymer,EAA).Theblendswerecharacterizedbytensiletesting,Izodimpacttesting,differentialscanningcalorimetry(DSC)andscanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM).
