女性在职场中往往被同性欺负
Morethanhalfofwomenarebulliedorharassedatwork–oftenbymembersoftheirownsex,amajorpollrevealsonApril1.

英国一份民意调查4月1日揭示：有超过一半的女性在工作场所受到欺负或骚扰，而欺辱她们的往往都是女性。

Basedoninterviewswithnearly23,000womenandmorethan2,000men,thesurveyisthelargestofitskindintheUK.

Itrevealsthatthebiggestenemyfacingwomenintheofficeorotherworkplaceisoftenotherwomen,ratherthantheirmalecolleagues.

Womenwhohadbeenbulliedbyamemberoftheirownsexsaidtheyfelttheymayhavebeentargetedbecausetheirseniorcolleaguefeltthreatenedbytheirabilities.

Theauthorsofthestudysaid:'Womenoftenexperiencebullyingbyfemalecolleaguesandlinemanagers.

'[Thisis]apointechoedbyfocusgroupparticipantswhothoughtfemalebulliesfeltthreatenedbypotentialandabilityandsoexploitedtheirpositionorauthoritytoundermine.'

Oneinfourwomen-allbetweentheagesof28and40-saidtheyhadbeenunderminedbyabossoverloadingthemwithworkandconstantlycriticisingthem.

Thesameproportionsaidtheyhadsufferedfrom'over-bearingsupervisionorothermisuseofpowerorposition'.

Oneineightsaidtheyhadbeensexuallyharassed-definedas'unwelcomecommentsofasexualnature'.

Thisincludesunwantedphysicalcontactorleering,askingforsexualfavours,displayingoffensivematerialsuchasposters,orsendingoffensiveemailsortextsofasexualnature.

Theresearchwascommissionedbythewomen'scampaigngroupOpportunityNowandaccountantsPwC.

HelenaMorrissey,amotherofnineandchairmanofOpportunityNow,said:'Womenhavetoldustheyareambitious,confidentandfeelsupportedbytheirpartnersintheircareeraspirations.

Theyfeelmuchlessencouragedbytheiremployers,however,bothinrespectofcareerdevelopmentandtheworkplaceculture,wherebullyingandharassmentarestillprevalent.'

OnemanwhotookpartintheProject28-40researchsaid:'Seniormalesinmyofficeareknownforgoingaftertheyoungerwomen.

'Itisajoke[but]goesontoomuchforthattobeacceptable.'
