Introduction Asoneofthemostwidelyusedengineeringmaterials,aluminumalloyshavebeenwidelyusedinvariousindustriesduetotheirexcellentpropertiessuchaslowdensity,highstrength-to-weightratio,andgoodcorrosionresistance.However,thepoorwearresistanceofaluminumalloyshasalwaysbeenamajorobstacletotheirfurtherdevelopmentandapplicationinmanyfields.Therefore,itisimportanttofindeffectivewaystoimprovethewearresistanceofaluminumalloys. Plasmasprayingisawidelyusedsurfacemodificationtechnology,whichcaneffectivelyimprovethesurfacepropertiesofmaterials.Iron-basedcompositecoatingsareapromisingcandidateforimprovingthewearresistanceandanti-corrosionpropertiesofaluminumalloysduetotheirexcellenttribologicalproperties. ExperimentalMethods Inthisstudy,aluminumalloysampleswerepreparedandcleanedbeforeplasmaspraying.Theplasmasprayingprocesswascarriedoutusingaplasmasprayingmachine,andtheiron-basedcompositecoatingsweresprayedontothesurfaceofaluminumalloys.ThemicrostructureofthecoatingsandthemorphologiesofthewearscarswereobservedbySEM.Thetribologicalpropertiesofthecoatingswereevaluatedusingaball-on-disktribometer. ResultsandDiscussion ThemicrostructureofthecoatingswasanalyzedbySEM.Itwasfoundthatthecoatingshadatypicallamellarstructure,andtheiron-basedcompositeparticleswerewelldistributedinthecoatings.Thewearresistanceofthecoatingswassignificantlyimprovedcomparedwiththatoftheuncoatedaluminumalloys.Thewearrateofthecoatingsdecreasedbyabout50%comparedwiththatoftheuncoatedaluminumalloys. Conclusion Insummary,thestudyonthestructureandtribologicalpropertiesofiron-basedcompositecoatingssprayedbyplasmaonthesurfaceofaluminumalloyshasmadesomeprogress.Theiron-basedcompositecoat
