Introduction: Superhydrophobicsurfaceswithwatercontactanglesgreaterthan150°andslidingangleslessthan10°haveattractedmuchattentioninrecentyearsduetotheiruniquepropertiessuchasself-cleaning,anti-icing,andanti-corrosion.Inthisreport,wefocusonthepreparationandapplicationofsuperhydrophobicsurfaces. SurfaceModification: Severalmethodshavebeendevelopedforthepreparationofsuperhydrophobicsurfaces,includingphysicalandchemicalmethods.Inphysicalmethods,surfaceroughnessisincreasedbycreatingmicro-ornano-scalestructures.Inchemicalmethods,lowsurfaceenergymaterialsareusedtoreducethesurfaceenergyofthesubstrate.Wehaveemployedacombinationofthesemethodstopreparesuperhydrophobicsurfaces.Wefirstcreatedmicro-scalestructuresonthesurfacebyusingphotolithography,followedbythedepositionofalowsurfaceenergymaterial.Theresultingsurfacesexhibitedwatercontactanglesgreaterthan170°. CharacterizationMethods: Surfacetopographyandwettingpropertieswerecharacterizedusingscanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM)andcontactanglemeasurements,respectively.SEMimagesrevealedthatthesurfaceshadahierarchicalstructureconsistingofmicro-scalepillarsandnano-scalefeatures.Contactanglemeasurementsshowedthatthesurfaceshadwatercontactanglesgreaterthan170°. Applications: Wehaveinvestigatedthepotentialapplicationsofsuperhydrophobicsurfacesinvariousfieldssuchascorrosionprevention,self-cleaning,andanti-icing.Incorrosionprevention,superhydrophobicsurfacescanbeusedtoprotectmetalsurfacesfromcorrosionbypreventingwaterandairfromreachingthesurface.Inself-cleaning,thesurfacescanbeusedtorepeldirtandothercontaminants.Inanti-icing,superhydrophobicsurfacescanbeusedtopreventtheformationoficeonsurfaces. Conclusion: Thepreparationandapplicationofsuperhydrophobicsurfaceshavebeeninvestigated.Acombinationofphysicalandchemicalmethodswasu
