Introduction Shortbaselinepositioningsystemsarewidelyusedinvariousapplicationssuchasautonomousvehiclenavigation,precisionagriculture,andlandsurveying.Insuchsystems,aresponderlocatedataknownpositionsendsasignaltoareceiverlocatedonamobilevehicle.Thereceivercalculatesthedistancebetweenitselfandtheresponderusingthetimedelaybetweenthetransmittedandreceivedsignal.Bycombiningthedistancemeasurementsfrommultipleresponders,thepositionofthereceivercanbedetermined. However,thetraditionalnarrowbandrespondersusedinshortbaselinepositioningsystemshavelimitedbandwidthandaresusceptibletointerference.Toovercometheselimitations,wedesignedandimplementedageneral-purposebroadbandresponderforshortbaselinepositioningsystems.Thisresponderiscapableofgeneratingacontinuouswavesignaloverawidefrequencyrange,whichcanbeusedtomitigatetheeffectsofinterferenceandimprovetheaccuracyofpositionestimation. Design Thegeneral-purposebroadbandresponderconsistsofthreemainmodules:therespondermodule,thecentralprocessingunit(CPU)module,andthewirelesscommunicationmodule. ResponderModule: Therespondermoduleisresponsibleforgeneratingthecontinuouswavesignalthatistransmittedtothereceiver.ThemoduleconsistsofanRFoscillator,frequencymodulator,andpoweramplifier.TheRFoscillatorgeneratesacarrierwave,whichismodulatedbythefrequencymodulatortoproduceafrequencychirp.Thepoweramplifieramplifiesthesignalandtransmitsittoth
