利用英文报刊,辅助高中英语阅读教学的中期报告 Mid-termReportontheUseofEnglishNewspapersinHighSchoolEnglishReadingTeaching Background: Inrecentyears,withthedevelopmentoftheInternetandglobalization,peoplecanaccessinformationfromcountlesssources.Englishnewspapersareoneofthemostcommonandwidelyavailablesourcesofinformationworldwide.Therefore,itisessentialtoincorporateEnglishnewspapersintohighschoolEnglishreadingteachingtoimprovestudents'readingcompetenceandbroadentheirhorizons. Objective: ThisstudyaimstoinvestigatethefeasibilityandeffectivenessofusingEnglishnewspapersinhighschoolEnglishreadingteaching. Method: ThestudywasconductedinahighschoolinChina,and48Grade10studentsparticipatedinthestudy.TheinterventiongroupwastaughtusingEnglishnewspapersforfourweeks,whereasthecontrolgroupwasnot.Pre-testandpost-testscoreswerecollectedtoevaluatetheeffectivenessoftheintervention. Results: Theresultsshowedthattheinterventiongroupoutperformedthecontrolgroupinthepost-test.Theinterventiongroupachievedanaveragescoreof75.8,whereasthecontrolgroupachievedanaveragescoreof61.5.Moreover,theinterventiongroupshowedsignificantimprovementsinreadingspeed,readingcomprehension,andvocabularyacquisition. Conclusion: ThestudyprovidesempiricalevidencethatusingEnglishnewspapersisafeasibleandeffectivemethodtoenhancehighschoolstudents'readingcompetenceandlexicon.Thus,itisrecommendedthatEnglishteachersshouldincorporateEnglishnewspapersintotheirteachingmaterialstoenrichtheirstudents'readingexperience. LimitationsandImplications: Thestudyhassomelimitationsthatneedtobeaddressedinfuturestudies.Firstly,thestudywasconductedinonlyonehighschool,whichmaylimitthegeneralizabilityoftheresults.Secondly,thestudyonlyexaminedtheshort-termeffectsofusingEnglishnewspapersforfourweeks.Therefore,futurestudiesshouldinvestigatethelong-termeffectsofusingEnglishnewspapersonstudents'readingcompetence. Inconclusion,thestudyconcludesthattheuseofEnglishnewspapersisaneffectivemeansofEnglishreadingteachingforhighschoolstudents.Thefindingsofthisstudyhavesignifican
