New-energyvehiclesdevelopinganalysisinChinaPAGE\*MERGEFORMAT15 New-energyVehiclesDevelopingAnalysisinChina YuchenHe UniversityofIllinoisatUrbana-Champaign Abstract Sincetheoilcrisisin1990s,themajorityofpeoplehaverealizedthenegativeinfluencesbroughtbytraditionalcarswithinternalcombustionengines.Asaresult,alotofresearchhasbeenconductedtoanalyzethedrawbackofthetraditionalvehicle.Meanwhile,somescientistsintroducetheconceptofnew-energyvehicles.Thispaperfocusesonthecomparisonbetweentraditionalinternalcombustioncarsandnew-energyvehiclesinChina,basedonthetheoryofindustrialeconomyandsustainabledevelopmenttheory.AnditconcludesthattheenvironmentaldisruptionandenergysupplypressureinChinaiscloselyrelatedtotheusageofinnercombustionenginesvehicles.Inaddition,combiningqualitativeandquantitativeanalysis,thispaperdemonstratesthewayofdevelopingnew-energyvehicles,andgivescommercialadvicesforautomobilemanufacturersinChina. Keywords:internalcombustioncars,environmental,energy,new-energycars,developingmethod Introduction Aftermorethan100yearsdevelopment,automobileshavebecomeanindispensablepartofpeople’sdailylife.However,thisindustryhasreacheditsbottleneck,especiallyafterthesevereworriesaboutthesupplyofcrudeoilin1990s,traditionalvehiclesseemsnotsuitablefortheusageinfuture.Therearetwocriticalconcernsabouttraditionalvehicles:massivefuelconsumptionandenvironmentaldisruption.AccordingtoChesterandHorvath(2009),vehicleshavebecomethelargestconsumeroffossiloilonearth.Giventhecurrentpaceofoilconsuming,theglobaloilreservewouldrunin50years.Asaresult,mankindwouldenterintoahugedevelopinggapwithoutfuelsupply.Inaddition,thetailgasemittedbyinternalcombustionenginesalsoincreasesthedangerofglobalwarmingandincidenceofadiseaseinmen’srespiratorysystem(Rajasriszm,1999),especiallyforthenew-bornchildren.Allofthedamagesareirreversibleandwouldbringdisastertoournextgeneration.However,themajorityoftheseresearchesarearrangedonglobalscale,nospecificanalysishasbeendoneforChina,consideringChinaha
